What is the the number one key to success in Auction bidding or the Collecting of old antique silver?
The answer is patience.
If you play a long game and have the patience of a saint then you will likely be a lot more successful at bidding at auctions.
You need to know when to not overbid and always have in the top of your mind that if you don't get the item at your price, then eventually down the road sometime in the future, you will find an item at a particular time and date where you will get the item at or nearer to your price.
Even if you are a wealthy billionaire, most people don't want to over pay. If you look at an object that you feel like you paid more on it than it is worth, then you will always have a little sour taste in your mouth over your purchase. You don't want to have to have that memory or feeling when admiring a gorgeous piece of artwork of silver or of any other object of art.
Don't be impulsive and don't get too emotional and just wait things out and have faith that good things come to those that wait. Eventually, even if you you have to up your price, you'll at least know that over time you had learned and accumulated enough knowledge to know for certain what the true value of what the item was really worth.
Conclusion: Be patient and don't jump the gun and pay too much, otherwise, even if you get what you want, you still will likey not be happy with having a bit of buyer's remorse for having overpaid. Don't covet something so much that it leeds you to make insanely high bids that are way beyond market value. Be disciplined and logical and try to control and even supress your emotions when engaging in any bidding situations.
